Washington: FBI Director Christopher Wray said he plans to resign when outgoing President Joe Biden’s term ends in January. Wray made the announcement during a meeting with bureau officials. Ray said his goal is to remain focused on our mission and continue working hard for you every day. He said it was the best way to avoid getting the bureau into trouble. Christopher Ray’s announcement comes just days after newly elected President Donald Trump announced his nomination of Kash Patel for the position.
Trump responds
Donald Trump also reacted after Christopher Wray made the announcement. Trump said Christopher Wray’s resignation was a great day for America because it would end the weaponization of the Justice Department. Now we will restore the rule of law for all Americans. The FBI, led by Christopher Wray, conducted an illegal search of my home. This case was wrongly registered against me and they abused their power to threaten many innocent people or ruin their lives. Kash Patel is the perfect person to lead the FBI.
Trump personally appointed
At the same time, we are also here to tell you that Christopher Ray was appointed by then President Donald Trump in 2017 for a 10-year term. Now, with Wray’s resignation, he will become the second FBI director Trump has shown a way out of. James Comey was previously removed from office by Trump during his first presidential term.
Big changes can be seen
Donald Trump selects Indian-born Kashi Patel as FBI director. He will assume the position subject to Senate confirmation. Patel is considered close to Trump. In 2017, he became a member of the House Select Committee on Intelligence. Kash Patel has signaled many significant changes since becoming FBI director.
