Dominica honors Prime Minister Narendra Modi with highest national honor: The government of the Caribbean nation of Dominica said it will award Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the country’s highest national award, the Dominica Medal of Honor, this month. The award was presented to Prime Minister Modi in recognition of his service to Dominica during the COVID-19 pandemic and his contribution to strengthening the partnership between the two countries.

PM Modi to receive Dominica’s highest honor

Dominica’s President Sylvanie Burton will present the award during the India-CARICOM Summit to be held in Georgetown, Guyana from November 19 to 21, the Prime Minister’s Office of Dominica said in a statement. “In February 2021, Prime Minister Modi provided Dominica with 70,000 doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine, a heart-warming gift that enables Dominica to support its other Caribbean neighbors,” the statement said. The Prime Minister’s leadership was also recognized in the healthcare, education and information technology sectors, as well as for his role in promoting climate-resilient manufacturing initiatives and sustainable development globally.

The statement quoted Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit as saying that the award was an expression of Dominica’s gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for his solidarity with Dominica and the wider region. “Prime Minister Modi has been a true partner for Dominica, especially in times of need during the global health crisis,” Skerrit said in the statement. “We are honored to award him Dominica’s highest national honor as our tribute to him.” A symbol of gratitude for support and a reflection of the strong ties between our two countries. We look forward to building on this partnership and furthering our shared vision of progress and resilience. ”
