When the trailer of the film Do Patti starring Kajol and Kriti Sanon was released, the question on the minds of the audience was what the film will be about. Two twin sisters, a police inspector and the handsome Shaheer Shaikh create a suspenseful story that fans cannot stop wanting to watch. This question also came to my mind when I saw the trailer of Do Patti. After watching the trailer, I feel like the story is about two sisters and a handsome guy who comes between them. That’s true, but things are more complicated than they seem.
What is the story of this movie?
The story begins in the small village of Devipur in Jharkhand, where Inspector Vidya Jyoti (Kajol) is transferred. Vidya, also known as VJ, whose father is a judge and mother is a lawyer, has different standards of justice and law than ordinary people. In addition to being a policewoman by profession, she is also a lawyer. After receiving his law degree, he did not even leave his brother. Because of his mistake, he was also sent to jail. One night, when VJ takes a complaint about a fight at the police station seriously, she’s faced with a dilemma that leaves her with sleepless nights.
VJ comes looking for the complainant and meets Saumya (Kriti Sanon) and her mother (Tanvi Azmi). The bruises on Soumya’s face indicated that someone had hit her, but she said she was injured by the cabinet. Worried about Saumya, VJ starts stalking her, which leads to her meeting Saumya’s twin sister Shirley (Kriti Sanon).
The simple-minded sister Soumya’s style is completely different from hers – coquettish and carefree. VJ learns from their mother that both sisters are in love with Dhruv, an angry boy from a rich family. Dhruv, the son of a Haryana minister, could not control his pants and anger. After tossing between the two sisters, Dhruv chose Soumya as his wife. Soumya is in love and happily married, but the same thing happens to her, just like what happened to her mother.
Saumya has to face Dhruv’s wrath every day for every small or big mistake or for no particular reason. His sister Shaili thinks he is a drama queen and Dhruv apologizes to her like a typical abusive husband. Yes, “Do Patti,” which appears to be full of romantic suspense, actually shows the pain of domestic violence.
Things came to a head when Dhruv claimed Soumya’s life one night. Vidya Jyoti then took matters into her own hands and defended Soumya’s case against Dhruv as a lawyer. But one thing VJ doesn’t know is that the entire truth isn’t even in front of her. What’s the secret of twin sisters’ lives? You will see in the film whether Saumya, who was beaten by Dhruv, will get justice and how bad it is for the body and mind of a woman facing domestic violence.
Shaheer is better than Kajol Kriti
Talking about acting, Kajol’s performance in the film is pretty good. She tried hard to become a local policewoman, but wasn’t entirely successful. Kriti Sanon made her debut in a dual role with “Do Patti”. He has proven with his role that he has a bright future in the industry. You will see two versions of Kriti together in the form of Shaili and Saumya and then you will understand how far she has come in her craft. However, Shaheer Sheikh is one actor who completely wins your heart and forces you to overlook Kajol and Kriti Sanon.
You must have seen Shaheer Sheikh on television before. He has acted in different roles such as the chocolate boy Rohan in “Good Luck Nikki”, Arjun in “Mahabharata” and Anant in “Navya”. But one would hardly have expected Shaheer to play an angry and abusive husband on screen. Shaheer’s performance in the role of Dhruv is stunning. His romance with Kriti is also worth watching, as is his aegyo style. Shaheer Sheikh shines in every scene.
What’s missing – what’s special?
One of the most painful scenes in the film is when after a conversation between Saumya and Dhruv, you see Dhruv’s true face. The way the film is shot and the performances of its two stars are truly chilling. That moment doesn’t leave you even after the movie is over and stays in your mind.
The story of the film has been written by Kanika Dhillon. The problem with Kanika’s stories is that they are very predictable. “Do Patti” has a similar story. By looking at the pictures, you can get an idea of what is going to happen or what might happen next. The direction of the film leaves a lot to be desired. Many scenes look artificial. An attempt was made to show courtroom drama in this film, but it was rather disappointing. The entire sequence fails to engage you. The music of the movie is very nice.
