Commissioner of Police J&K RR Swain approved an allocation of Rs 204 crore as special welfare relief to deceased police officers and next of kin (NoK) of SPOs who died in service.
In addition, financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh has been approved for the marriage of the martyrs’ daughters.
The relief includes Rs 22 lakh each to the family members or legal heirs of nine police personnel who died due to illness while in service.
A relief fund of Rs 1 lakh has been provided immediately to the family members who attended the last rites. The amount of the sanction is drawn from the Police Welfare Fund.
In another sanction, a compensation of Rs 6 lakh has been approved to the family of SPO Deepak Sharma, who died while working with the department. An initial Rs 50,000 has been paid for his last rites.
