There is a ruckus over the encounter of Mangesh Yadav in the case of looting Rs 1.5 crore from a jeweler’s shop in Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh. Samajwadi Party and Congress have raised questions on the Yogi government. Now Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Prashant Kumar on Monday denied the allegations of opposition parties that the police conducted encounters on the basis of the caste of the accused. He said that no bias is done by the state police.
DGP denied the allegations of SP and Congress
The DGP was speaking to reporters on the occasion of the inauguration of the All India Police Wrestling Cluster Program in Lucknow. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav had recently attacked the Yogi Adityanath government after the Sultanpur encounter. He had alleged that Mangesh’s encounter was caste-based and he was not even involved in the incident.

However, the DGP has denied these allegations. He said that the police do not do such things… when bullets are fired at the police, those who have faced such situations, who are our former officers, they all know about it… I deny all such things and the police act with complete impartiality.

The DGP has also given a statement about the attempt to derail the Kalindi Express train in Kanpur. He said that all our senior officers have gone to the spot and we are seriously investigating the matter. Whatever facts come to light, we will tell the media. On the question of ATS (Anti-Terrorist Squad) also reaching the spot in Kanpur, the DGP said that we will look into all aspects and it is not possible to say anything on this without a complete investigation.
