In the IPL 2024 mega auction, three star players of the Indian T20 team were drawn. These include KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer and Yuzvendra Chahal. These players got huge amounts of money at the auctions and these players also became rich. Shreyas Iyer and Rahul are also likely to become captains. Both players were also captains in their previous teams.
1. Rahul, Kuala Lumpur
KL Rahul has withdrawn from the India T20 international squad. He played the last T20 international match for India in 2022, against England. It’s just that he has no chance to participate in T20I games since then. After this, Rahul was not even retained by the Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL. It’s possible he could go to another team. A bidding war started between RCB and KKR to buy KL Rahul in the IPL mega auction. Delhi Capitals later joined the bid. In the end, Delhi Capitals acquired Rahul for Rs 14 crore. Rahul has not been able to perform to his name for a while now. He has scored 4683 runs in 132 IPL matches so far.
2. Shreyas Iyer
Shreyas Iyer was withdrawn from the India T20 team due to poor form. So far, he has represented the Indian team in the last T20 international match in 2023. Kolkata Knight Riders won the 2024 IPL title under Iyer’s leadership. But the KKR team still failed to retain him. After that, money poured in for him at auctions. Iyer was acquired by Punjab for Rs 2,675 crore, while his base price was only Rs 2 crore. He is likely to become the captain of Kings XI Punjab.
3. Yuzvendra Chahal
Yuzvendra Chahal is currently out of the Indian T20 team. Team India’s last T20 international will be played in 2023. But now he got a huge amount at auction. Kings XI Punjab bought him for Rs 18 crore. Chahal, the most successful bowler in IPL, also had to be part of the mega auction as Rajasthan Royals released him ahead of IPL 2025. Chahal is the player with the most wickets in the history of IPL. He took 208 wickets in 160 IPL games.
