DEO Poonch conducts inspection of city polling booths

Poonch District Returning Officer Vikas Kundal conducted a comprehensive inspection of city polling booths in Poonch to ensure that minimum safeguarding facilities (AMF) were provided for smooth conduct of polling. The inspection focused on ensuring the provision of basic amenities including handicapped ramps, adequate lighting and clean drinking water.

The DEO also inspected the security measures and sensitivity at the polling stations.

The DEO stressed the importance of providing a conducive voting environment and stated that “Our goal is to ensure that every voter can exercise their right to vote with ease and dignity. We are committed to providing all the necessary facilities to make the voting process a smooth one.”

During the inspection, the DEO conveyed various instructions to the authorities and directed them to hold meetings under the Ward Level Awareness Group (BAG), comprising BLOs, locals, teachers, students and first-time voters, to ensure 100 per cent voter turnout in the area.

He also directed officials to resolve any deficiencies and complete necessary arrangements before the polling date.

As the polling date approaches, the district administration is making every effort to ensure that every eligible voter in Poonch can cast his vote with ease and dignity.The DEO was accompanied by senior officials of the district election authority.
