Prime Minister Modi delivers a speech in the Guyana Parliament.
Prime Minister Modi is visiting Guyana. He was speaking at a special session of the Guyana Parliament on Thursday. In his speech, the Prime Minister said Guyana yesterday conferred on me its highest honour. I express my gratitude to every citizen of Guyana for this. A big thank you to all the citizens here. I dedicate this honor to the citizens of India. Both India and Guyana are strengthening democracy. Democracy is in our DNA. When you go to another country, it’s rare that the history there feels like your own. Both India and Guyana experienced similar slavery. How many people sacrificed their lives in the freedom struggle, both here and in India. Together we fought for freedom from slavery.
Prime Minister Modi said, today I would like to congratulate you on behalf of the 1.4 billion Indian people. All your efforts to strengthen democracy in Guyana are strengthening the world. When India and Guyana gained independence, the world faced different challenges. Today there are different challenges. The systems and institutions established after World War II are collapsing. The world is tangled up in a different direction than it should be.
“Democracy first, humanitarianism first” is the biggest mantra
Prime Minister Modi said that “Democracy first, humanitarianism first” is the biggest slogan for progress in the world today. When we build on this, the results will be beneficial to humanity. The spirit of democracy first teaches us to lead everyone. The spirit of humanity first determines the direction of our decision-making. When humans are the basis for decisions first, the results also benefit humans. The spirit of democracy first teaches us to lead everyone, lead everyone, and participate in everyone’s development.
There is no greater medium for the welfare of the world than democracy.
Prime Minister Modi said that there is no greater medium than democracy for the welfare of the world and humanity. Democracy guarantees a bright future for its citizens. This is not a law. We have shown that democracy is in our DNA. This is our vision and behavior. In terms of uniting the world, India conveyed the message of “One Planet, One Family, One Future” to the world during its presidency of the G20. When the COVID-19 crisis hit, India sent out the message of “One Planet, One Health”.
Guyana’s message to the world
Prime Minister Modi has a message for the world through his message from Guyana. He said this was not the time for the world to collide. Now is the time to identify the conditions that cause conflict and eliminate them. Today there are challenges such as terrorism, drugs, cybercrime, etc. Only by facing these challenges can we improve the future of future generations.
