It is the election season in Delhi University. Many videos of candidates are discussed on social media every day. All candidates are ready to win the elections. Many videos are going viral on social media like “DU’s Matka Man”.

Who are the “Matekas of DU”?

The DUSU elections held this year were quite interesting. This year, 22-year-old student Raunak Khatri, known as the “Matka Man of DU”, was selected by NSUI to contest for the post of President. Raunak is known as the “Matka Man of DU” on the DU campus. From election campaigns to protests, people are always passionate about the pot.

Why does it have this unique name?

In fact, Raunak Khatri was a law student at Delhi University. After admission, he had raised his voice against the poor drinking water system, but when his demands were not met, he himself took up the task of placing flower pots in the college in March 2024. However, his protest still did not stop and he went to the court. Raunak also filed a petition in the court, demanding the provision of drinking water dispensers, WiFi and air conditioning. The problem was resolved thereafter. Let us tell you that the law college has 9,000 students.

Recently joined NSUI

Raunak told aajtak.in that initially he did not belong to any political organization. In August 2024, he joined NSUI and became a member. Before joining NSUI, he raised the slogan “From Dehat to DU”.

On what issues is Raunak contesting the election?

After becoming a contender for the NSUI president post, Raunak said that his main election issue is to improve the basic structure of DU. Raunak has made it his mission to bring transparency in admissions, work on issues related to female students and fulfill everything written in the NSUI manifesto.
