Due to rain in Delhi on Saturday evening, a tragic accident took place due to water filling in the basement of RAU’S IAS Coaching Center in Old Rajendra Nagar. The basement filled with water so fast that the students did not even get a chance to recover. 3 students died due to drowning due to waterlogging. Now the investigation of this accident is going on. Police have arrested the owner of the coaching center, Abhishek Gupta and the coordinator. Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party MLA Durgesh Pathak said that MCD has started sealing illegal coaching and vocational institutes. We will not spare anyone involved in any illegal activity in this action. He said that we will set an example so that such unfortunate incidents do not happen.
Regarding the coaching center accident, MCD Additional Commissioner Tariq Thomas said that we have started action from the evening itself, have sealed three basements (coaching centers running in basements), we will take further action in the coming days. We have identified 8 coaching centers running in basements, out of which 3 have been sealed. He said that survey is being done from our side. The government has ordered a magisterial inquiry.
On the other hand, the National Women’s Commission has taken cognizance of the incident, the Women’s Commission said that the allegations of ignoring the appeals made for cleaning the drain are worrying. In this matter, the Women’s Commission has directed AAP MLA Durgesh Pathak to appear personally. It has also been said that appropriate action will be taken in case of non-compliance.
