Delhi High Court finds no relief for Sanjay Bhandari, refuses to stay proceedings

Sanjay Bhandari

The Delhi High Court on Wednesday heard the case of arms dealer Sanjay Bhandari. The court refused to stay the ongoing proceedings against Bhandari. Cases are being filed against him by PMLA and FEO. During the trial, the court stated that there was no need to invoke special jurisdiction in this case.

The court said Bhandari appeared to have been convicted. As he did not provide his UK address in the petition, it appears to be an attempt at a proxy war.

Last year ED filed a chargesheet

The ED had filed a chargesheet in the case in December last year. Apart from Bhandari, the names of two others also appear in the charge sheet. Robert Vadra, husband of Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi, has also been named in this ED chargesheet. In the chargesheet, the ED told the court that CC Thampi, who worked for Sanjay Bhandari, was a colleague of Robert Vadra.

Names mentioned in Pilatus aircraft deal

The CBI has also named Sanjay Bhandari as an accused along with defense ministry and Indian Air Force officials in the Swiss Aircraft Company Pilatus case. The agreement, signed in 2009, will provide the Air Force with 75 trainer aircraft. The CBI alleged that Pilatus had acquired offset India Solution Pvt. The conspiracy was hatched by Limited directors Sanjay Bhandari and Vimal Sarin.
