Delhi: Artist who played Kumbhakarna in ‘Ramleela’ dies of heart attack

Ramlila is being staged in South Delhi’s Chiragadhri area. Meanwhile, the actor who played Kumbhakarna, the brother of the demon king Ravana, suddenly felt pain in his chest and was sitting there. He was immediately taken to hospital where doctors declared him dead. This is the second death of an artiste who played a role in Ramlila during Shardiya Navratri this year.

The artist, who plays the role of Kumbakarna in Malviya Nagar’s “Savitri Nagar Ram Leela”, suddenly complained of chest pain, police said. He was immediately rushed to Akash Hospital from where he was referred to PSRI Hospital. He died during treatment on Saturday, a police official said. The deceased artist was identified as Vikram Taneja, a resident of Paschim Vihar.

According to news agency PTI, the incident took place around 11 pm on Friday. Vikram Taneja, 60, died of a suspected heart attack. The officer said the statements of his family members have been recorded and he does not suspect any foul play.

Artist who played Lord Ram dies

Earlier, the artist who played the role of Lord Ram passed away while staging Ramlila on the occasion of Navratri in Shahdra district. He also complained of similar chest pain, following which he was immediately rushed to the hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. The deceased was identified as Sushil Kaushik, a resident of Vishwakarma Nagar area. Sushil is a real estate agent by profession.
