Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has decided not to decorate the Ram temple with Chinese chandeliers, lights and other items during Diwali to promote Swadeshi. Ayodhya is also gearing up to host a grand festival of lights this year. This will be the eighth Deepotsav event held in Ramnagari. This is the first dipotsav after the consecration ceremony of Ram Lala of Ram Temple.
The Ram temple complex is being decorated with lamps, flowers, lights and other items. The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust said in a statement that it has decided to promote local craftsmanship in the decoration of the Ram temple on the occasion of Diwali. In sync with the ‘Voice for Local’ initiative, steps have been taken towards self-reliance (Atmanirbhar Bharat). Around 10,000 police personnel will be deployed for security arrangements for the Deepotsav project. About half of them will be in civilian clothes.
Asked about the decision not to use Chinese decorations at the Ram temple, Ayodhya commissioner Gaurav Dayal said: “Basically, we only want to use those items that are indigenous and local. The idea behind Ram Mandir Trust is to promote local craftsmen, local artists and local materials that are more environmentally friendly.
When asked if there was any call or instruction from the government asking the people not to use Chinese content, he said it was up to the people. We cannot force anyone. Deepotsav will be organized in Ayodhya a day before Diwali (October 30). The government plans to set a Guinness World Record for the most lights lit simultaneously this year again. Ram Leela and other cultural performances will also be organized.
