Businessman Mohit Pandey, 32, died in police custody on Saturday. Mohit had an argument with his neighbor Adesh Kumar over a minor incident and was taken to Lucknow’s Chinhat police station, where he died.

Following this, a case was registered against the station house officer (SHO) and others on charges of murder and criminal conspiracy. He has been removed from office.

After Mohit’s death, locals protested, demanding action against the police and others allegedly involved. Mohit’s family claimed that he was brutally beaten by the police on the orders and demands of his uncle, a political leader.
