Dangal made Rs 2,000 crore, but Phogat family will be surprised to hear the amount received, secrets revealed for the first time

The movie Dangal starring superstar Aamir Khan is one of the most profitable movies in Bollywood. The film, which grossed over Rs 2,000 crore at the global box office, must have put a lot of money in the pockets of the producers, but the Fugate family did not get much benefit from the film.

“Daddy” tells the story of a former champion wrestler and his wrestler daughters who travel from India to China to make a fortune. The story of the film is based on the iconic Fugate family of Indian wrestling. But Babita Phogat, a wrestler and politician from the same family, now says it was her sport, not the movie Dangal, that made her popular. Babita also stated that the Fugate family did not receive any significant financial benefit from the film.

The Phogat family only made so much money for Dangal
In an interview with News 24, Babita revealed how much the makers of Daddy paid her family for the rights to film. Babita said that the amount given to her family by the producers was less than 1% of the movie’s box office revenue.

When he was asked whether the makers of Dangal gave Rs 20 crore to the Phogat family as often mentioned in reports? Therefore, Babita said the amount received by the family was “half of 10 per cent of Rs 20 crore”. However, Babita also clarified that the deal was signed between the Fugate family and film director Nitish Tiwari while writing the film’s script. Aamir Khan was not involved in the project as a producer at that time.

Amir’s team wants to change the character’s name
“My father said only one thing – we need people’s love and respect, leaving everything else aside,” Babita said. He further said that his name became a household name because of the people and not because of the film. Babita also revealed that when Aamir Khan came on board the film, his team suggested changing the character’s name. But his father, Mahavir Phogat, wasn’t ready yet.

Babita also revealed that when “Dangal” became a commercial success, her father also made a suggestion to Aamir’s team to open a wrestling academy in Haryana. But this matter cannot be beyond the scope of discussion. He said: “We are discussing with his team to open an academy. But he has neither said yes nor said no.
