According to the weather forecast, Cyclone Fungal is located 770 kilometers south-southeast of Chennai. Crossing the Tamil Nadu coast, it will move northwest towards the Sri Lankan coast over the next two days. As a result, the state has issued a heavy rain forecast. Rains started falling in Tamil Nadu from Tuesday. Under this condition, moderate to heavy rain is likely to occur in Chennai, Chengalpet, Kanchipuram and Tiruvallur.

In addition to this, recommendations were made to reduce external activities. However, an orange alert has been issued for Chennai. In view of the possibility of heavy rains, in Tiruvallur, Thanjavur, Mayiladuthurai, Puducherry, Karaikal, Chennai, Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur and Cuddalore districts Schools and colleges remained closed on Wednesday.
