The government and its agencies are making all efforts to deal with Cyclone Storm Dana. On the basis of the arrangement, the fear of “Dana” will be eliminated. Agencies such as NDRF are also fully prepared to deal with this natural disaster. A severe cyclonic storm formed in the Bay of Bengal will hit the Odisha coast today (October 24) evening. Its speed can reach 110-120 kilometers per hour. According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), strong winds and heavy rain will occur in Odisha and Bengal due to the impact of this cyclonic storm. From October 24 to 26, the impact of the cyclone will affect many states, especially Odisha and the coastal areas of Bengal. This is why the meteorological department issued a red warning.

Where will the landing take place?
The storm is expected to hit the West Bengal coast between northern Odisha and Dhanapuri. Landfall is likely at Sagar Island near Bhitarkanika and Damara (Odisha) between midnight of October 24 and morning of 25 October. During this period, wind speeds can reach 100-110 kilometers per hour to 120 kilometers per hour.
There is a red alert in these areas
A red alert for heavy rain has been issued for Puri, Khurda, Ganjam and Jagasinghpur districts of Odisha. Meanwhile, an alert has also been issued in South 24 Parganas and Midnapore districts of Bangladesh. Fishermen were also warned to stay away from the sea.
Trains canceled and airlines banned
The Railways has canceled more than 150 express and passenger trains amid fears of cyclonic storm Dana. Meanwhile, Kolkata airport has also banned flight services from 6 pm today to 9 am tomorrow.
Schools are also closed
Odisha and West Bengal are bracing for severe cyclonic storms, with the two state governments having started evacuating people from threatened areas and deciding to close educational institutions in sensitive areas. All educational institutions, including schools, colleges and universities, in 14 districts of Odisha will remain closed till October 25. In Bangladesh, schools in seven districts will remain closed until October 26.
Jagannath temple and Konark temple closed in Odisha
The Odisha government has closed two major temples in the state – Jagannath Temple and Konark Temple – for devotees. The order is currently in effect until October 25. To ensure the chief minister’s “zero casualties” target, the state government deployed NDRF, ODRAF and fire departments.
