CS attends ‘Hindi Diwas’ event

Jammu, September 14: The Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Language (JKAACL) today organised ‘Hindi Day’ at Abhinav Theatre in Jammu. The all-day event, dedicated to the promotion and preservation of Hindi language, included exciting activities like debates and poetry recitations, in which students from the region participated actively.

Chief Secretary Atal Dulu graced the occasion as the chief guest. In his speech, he stressed on the importance of Hindi as a unifying language and a symbol of India’s cultural heritage. He stressed on the importance of the younger generation staying close to their linguistic roots and said, “Hindi is more than just a language; it is the essence of our rich cultural identity and plays a vital role in strengthening national unity.”

Suresh Kumar Gupta, Secretary, Ministry of Culture, appreciated the efforts of JKAACL in organizing the event and encouraged students to explore the rich Hindi literature. “Such programmes foster love for the language among students and groom future poets, writers and scholars,” he commented.

Deepika Sharma, secretary of the Ministry of Culture, was also present on the occasion, which added to the significance of the event.

Academic excellence in Hindi was recognized and honoured. Ms. Sonali Thakur, a gold medalist in M.A. in Hindi (2022-24) from Jammu University, Ms. Tanu Choudhary, a graduate of Government College for Girls, Gandhi Nagar, and Ms. Kashish Kaila, who scored full marks in Hindi in the Class 12 examination, were honoured by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo for their outstanding achievements in the subject.

Renowned scholar Prof. Ashok Kumar, Dr. Parshottam Kumar, Associate Professor, Department of Hindi and Dr. Bhagwati Devi, Assistant Professor, Department of Hindi delivered fascinating papers on the importance of Hindi and globalization.

Around 30 students from different schools and colleges participated in the poetry and debate competition. Top performers of the event were awarded certificates and prizes for their outstanding performance. The jury, comprising Khema Koul, Sham Bihari Juneja and Suman Sharma, praised the outstanding performance of the contestants.

Suresh Kumar Gupta presented certificates to the winners and congratulated them for their achievements. At the end of the event, JKAACL reiterated its commitment to promote Hindi and other regional languages ​​as part of its cultural mission.
