Jammu, September 17: Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo today conducted a comprehensive review focusing on several critical issues regarding upgradation and renovation of the Legislative Assembly (LA) buildings and MLA quarters in Jammu and Srinagar and smooth functioning of the Assembly staff after the elections.

During the meeting, the Chief Secretary was briefed on the progress of the works at these complexes. He stressed the need to expedite the completion of these projects while ensuring that quality standards are adhered to, an official press release stated.

Dulloo also reviewed key infrastructure components including fire safety measures, public address system, Wi-Fi connectivity and the functioning of elevators inside the Parliament Secretariat. Apart from the upgradation of the Parliament building, the Chief Secretary also took stock of the renovation work being done to make the MLA quarters in both cities functional. He was updated on the status of the repairs and directed the concerned departments to continue their efforts to complete the work on time.

The meeting also discussed the procurement and purchase of new vehicles. The Minister of Auto Repair Shops informed that an order has been placed for the purchase of 21 new vehicles and provided the model description of these vehicles. The meeting also reviewed the security arrangements for the Minister and the availability of bulletproof vehicles.

Besides, Dulo directed the Secretary to the GAD Commissioner to issue necessary orders to deploy necessary staff for the working of the Legislative Assembly and to arrange for the minister to work in the Civil Secretariat Building. The Chief Secretary directed the Resident Commissioner to ensure timely completion of all repair and renovation work and to ensure availability of vehicles immediately after the UT constitutes the Assembly.
