Washington:
Top American officials condemned a Russian missile strike at the center of the Ukraine city of Sumi on Sunday, killing and injuring dozens of people.
Ukraine, American Special Envoy for Keith Kelog, said that the “Civil goals” in the northeast city crossed any line of decency “by Russian forces”.
“As a former military leader, I understand targeting and it is wrong,” the retired Lieutenant General posted on X, saying “citizens are the scores of dead and injured.”
On Sunday morning, the Russian missile strike killed at least 34 people, Kiev said, it is one of the deadliest attacks in the months. About 120 people were also injured.
US State Secretary Marco Rubio wrote on X that the United States “Sumi expresses our deep condolences to the victims of today’s horrific Russian missile attack.”

Trump is pressurizing Moscow and Kiev to agree to a ceasefire deal, but despite frequent talks between Russian and US authorities, they have failed to extract any major concessions from the Kremlin.
