Craving crow biryani…couple kills 19 crows, then eats one big meal for 7 people

Couple kills 19 crows for feast

A strange incident took place in Thiruvallur, Tamil Nadu. The forest department has issued a warning to a couple in a village in Tiruvallur who killed crows and kept them in their house. A fine was also imposed. Forest department officials received information that a couple named Ramesh and Bhoochamma were hunting crows in Thoraipakkam village near Nayapakkam Sanctuary in Tiruvallur district. In this case, officers found 19 crows when they searched the house based on information.

When the forest department personnel interrogated the couple, they said that there were seven people in the family, four daughters, one son and two of us. In this case, he caught these crows and ate them. Forest officials, however, suspect that the crows were caught to supply meat to roadside eateries and small non-vegetarian eateries on highways.

Fine of Rs 5,000

The forest department has expressed concern over killing crows for their meat. The couple said it would not affect their health. Forest department officials said it was unfortunate that such incidents occurred when the crow population was already declining. The authorities did not arrest the couple as crows are considered vermin under the Forest Department Protection Act, 1972. However, he was warned and fined Rs 5,000 and a case was booked for forest encroachment.

Samples should be sent for testing

Speaking on the matter, Sai Vignesh, founder of the animal welfare shelter, said, “I have informed the police many times before to confiscate cat meat. Food safety officials should inspect the above restaurants from time to time to prevent the Chennai-Bengaluru and cases of meat adulteration in food products on the Tiruvallur-Tirupati highway. Samples should also be collected and sent for testing.”
