After the outbreak of the new crown epidemic, the number of deaths due to sudden heart disease increased significantly in India. But the coronavirus vaccine is thought to be the main cause of these deaths. However, the central government has made it clear that the coronavirus vaccine is not the leading cause of sudden heart disease deaths in the country.
Federal Health Minister JP Nadda said in a message in the Federal House on Tuesday that the new coronavirus vaccine was not the cause of sudden deaths. To this end, the Health Minister also introduced the research results of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) in the Union House.
ICMR search for cause of death
ICMR’s study claims that the COVID-19 vaccine is not the cause of sudden heart disease deaths in the country. The report said there were five causes of such deaths. The National Institute of Epidemiology at ICMR conducted a study on healthy people aged 18 to 45 years.
The study was conducted in 47 hospitals across 19 states and several union territories. ICMR prepared this report keeping in mind those who are completely healthy and free from any ailment. Between October 1, 2021 and March 31, 2023, he died suddenly due to unknown reasons.
COVID-19 vaccine may reduce risk of death
Union Health Minister JP Nadda told Parliament that a study by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) showed that vaccination against COVID-19 did not increase the risk of sudden death among adolescents and adults in the country. This study shows that the COVID-19 vaccine reduces the likelihood of such deaths.
The ICMR conducted the study as concerns over the coronavirus vaccine have been responsible for sudden deaths in the country over the past few years. ICMR’s study covered 47 hospitals in 19 states and union territories.
During the course of the study, ICMR collected samples from 729 cases of sudden death and 2,916 samples preserved after heart attacks. Research shows that taking one or two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine can significantly reduce the chance of sudden, unexplained death.
Federal Health Minister Nadda said that a surveillance system called Adverse Events Following Immunization (AEFI) has also been created to track the side effects of COVID-19 vaccination. Anaphylaxis kits are available at vaccination centers and everyone must undergo a mandatory 30-minute observation period after vaccination.
