Today is the first time since independence that Jammu and Kashmir is celebrating Constitution Day. The Jammu and Kashmir government has issued instructions on Monday to observe Constitution Day with grand celebrations. This is the first time such an event has been held in Srinagar after the merger of Jammu and Kashmir with India in 1947. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will chair the event in Srinagar. Along with him, some ministers from Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s government will also read out the preamble of the constitution.
However, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah himself will not be able to attend the event. Because he had traveled to Saudi Arabia on Monday to perform Umrah in Mecca. Some ministers from his government will attend.
Constitution Day greetings. Honor the Framers of our Constitution. At this important moment, I call on everyone to jointly safeguard the sanctity of the Constitution, further strengthen the principles of social justice and equality, and work together for social peace and progress.

Johnson & Johnson charter canceled after removing 370 people
Earlier, Jammu and Kashmir had its own constitution and national flag. The government there was appointed Prime Minister and the head of state was Sardar Riasat, the President. But in 1965, these positions were changed to Chief Minister and Governor. And Jammu and Kashmir’s own constitution and flag remain valid.
After the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019, Jammu and Kashmir was divided into Union Territories. Thereafter, Jammu and Kashmir’s special status ended, along with its constitution and flag. After the abrogation of Article 370, the state held assembly elections in September for the first time. The Congress Party and the Congress Alliance won a majority in the election and Omar Abdullah became Prime Minister.
