Congress sidelined by Charanjit Singh Channi’s statement on Amritpal, BJP also raised questions

There is political uproar after Punjab Congress MP Charanjit Singh Channi’s statement on Amritpal Singh. Channi claimed that the BJP-led central government has curbed the freedom of speech of controversial Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh. When voices of protest started rising after this comment, Congress distanced itself from this statement. Congress MP Jairam Ramesh said that the statement given by MP Charanjit Singh Channi on Amritpal Singh is his own and has no connection with Congress in any way. On Channi’s remarks, BJP MP Ravneet Singh Bittu said that Channi is behaving like a traitor.

During the discussion on the budget in Parliament, Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu got angry at Channi. Bittu called Channi the most corrupt man of Punjab and targeted him fiercely. Over the dispute between Bittu and Channi in the Parliament, members of the opposition and the opposition came face to face and there was a huge uproar. Due to the uproar, the proceedings of the Lok Sabha had to be adjourned till 2 pm.

Charanjit Channi raised the issue of Amritpal Singh’s release in Parliament
Congress MP Charanjit Singh Channi demanded the release of Khalistan supporter Amritpal Singh from jail. During his speech in Parliament, Charanjit Singh Channi demanded the release of Amritpal Singh and said, ’20 lakh people of Punjab have elected him as their leader and sent him to Parliament. But he has been put in jail. He is unable to present the views of the people of his area in the House. This is also a kind of emergency.

Who is Amritpal Singh?
Amritpal Singh, chief of Khalistani organization ‘Waris Punjab De’, has won the Lok Sabha elections as an independent from Khadur Sahib seat of Punjab. Amritpal Singh has been in jail since March last year. A case is going on against him under NSA. Amritpal Singh came into limelight when he attacked a police station with thousands of supporters to free his close friend. In Punjab he is called Jarnail Singh Bhindra Wale-2.0.

Let us tell you that in the 1980s, Bhindranwale had raised the demand for a separate country, Khalistan, for the Sikhs and created an uproar in the entire Punjab. In the same way, Amritpal Singh wears a comparatively heavy turban on his head.
