Congress Party VS Bharatiya Janata Party, who revised the Constitution? Amit Shah speaks in Rajya Sabha

Amit Shah delivers a speech in the House of Commons.

Home Minister Amit strongly attacked the Congress in response to the discussion on the Constituent Assembly in the Union House. He said that during the Lok Sabha elections, a 56-year-old Congress leader who claimed to be a young man once walked around waving the constitution and said that if the BJP came to power, the constitution would be amended. This was a lesson taught to him by the public.

Home Minister Amit Shah said that since the country’s independence, the BJP has been in power for only 16 years and revised the constitution 22 times, but the Congress party has been in power for 55 years and revised the constitution 77 times. Amit Shah also narrated the four amendments introduced by the Congress and the BJP to the Constitution respectively.

Congress made 4 amendments

  1. Home Minister Amit Shah said the first amendment was made by the Congress soon after the constitution came into effect on June 18, 1951. At that time, neither the House of Federation nor the House of People was established. Congress doesn’t even have the patience to contest elections. Article 19A was added to the constitution at that time to restrict freedom of speech. At the time of this amendment, the Prime Minister was Jawaharlal Nehru.
  2. In the Union House, Amit Shah also cited the 24th Amendment passed by Parliament on November 5, 1971, which provides that Parliament has the power to restrict the fundamental rights of citizens. This amendment was made during the tenure of Indira Gandhi.
  3. Amit Shah cited the 39th Constitutional Amendment passed on August 10, 1975, which prohibits judicial inquiries into the post of prime minister. The amendment also determines that any cases brought against the Prime Minister before then will be dismissed.
  4. Amit Shah counted the fourth amendment proposed by the Congress as the 42nd amendment, in which the term of state assemblies was increased from 5 years to 6 years.

Shamelessly modified

Amit Shah said that in the manner of these four constitutional amendments, no constitutional amendment in the world is so shameless. When Congress leaders created an uproar over Amit Shah’s remarks, Amit Shah said if you do this, then you must listen. He said some of the amendments were later annulled by the courts, some by the PPP and some even continued to exist. However, these amendments made clear Congress’s intent.

Amit Shah lists 5 amendments for the BJP

Responding to the discussion on the Constitution, Amit Shah also listed 4 amendments proposed by the BJP. He said that apart from the four amendments, we brought the triple talaq law, we brought such an education policy that even the communists could not oppose it. This is the first time this has happened when the Communists did not oppose our education policy. We also brought the Jammu and Kashmir Bill and three new laws.

  1. Amit Shah cited the 101st amendment to the Constitution by the BJP government. With this amendment, the Goods and Services Tax came into effect in the country. Amit Shah said that Modi has done the work of repealing hundreds of sales tax laws and enacting one law for the welfare of the people.
  2. Amit Shah said the BJP had enacted the 102nd Amendment to give constitutional status to the National Commission for Backward Classes. Some people experience stomach pain and don’t understand why they are doing this. If you do, we have no chance. You are not doing this because Congress never believed in the welfare of backward castes.
  3. The BJP has proposed Amendment 103 to provide 10% reservation to poor children who do not get reservation benefits. Congress has been chanting the slogan of eradicating poverty for years but has never actually followed through on it.
  4. Amit Shah said the BJP had enacted the 105th Amendment to give states the right to determine OBC as only the central government has the power to do so since Independence. This causes injustice to backward societies.
  5. Amit Shah said the BJP has enacted the 106th Amendment to provide power to mothers. Through the Nari Shakti Vandan Act, women got 33% reservation. The souls of the framers of the Constitution will rejoice when this dream is realized in the House of Representatives.
