Congress President Mallikarjun Haq and Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi in Lok Sabha
After the defeat in Maharashtra, the Congress high command has now gone into action mode. At the Congress Working Committee meeting on Friday, President Malikajun Haq said significant action will be taken from top to bottom. During this period, Hager also reprimanded many important party leaders present at the meeting.
Rahul Gandhi, who was present at the meeting, also asked Haq to use the whip. Now after the Congress Working Committee meeting, the discussion is where will Haqq’s whip operate within the Congress party?
Hare is enthusiastic about the leader of the organization
After Haryana’s humiliating defeat in Maharashtra, Congress president Haqq took advantage of the CWC meeting. Kharge made it clear to leaders at the meeting that a favorable environment was no guarantee of victory. In the meeting, Haq scolded Mohan Prakash, Ajoy Kumar and Sunil Kanuguru.
Seeing Hager’s attitude, many leaders remained silent. Ultimately, Hager said, there are signs of change from top to bottom. In his last speech, Kharge talked about fighting the EVM battle with the Indian Union.
Which leaders will be whipped?
1. Haryana Congress proposes major action. Since the election debacle, there have been rumors that Haryana will replace the state president and leader of the opposition. In Haryana, sitting President Udayban even lost the legislative body. The Congress is said to be re-electing the opposition leader and president of Haryana.
2. The Congress Executive Committee in Odisha has been dissolved. The appointment of a national president is also proposed here. The Congress party has been losing elections in Odisha for the past 25 years. In Odisha, new appointments will also be made to the state president and other posts.
3. Bihar will hold assembly elections next year. There are also talks of replacing state president Akhilesh Prasad Singh. Akhilesh failed to win his son from the Maharajganj seat in the Lok Sabha elections.
4. Following the defeat in Maharashtra, the state’s president Nana Patole tendered his resignation. Patole has also come under the radar of Congress leaders. Bunty Shelke, the candidate from Nagpur Central, has been Patole’s attacker. Haggar can also take action against Patola.
5. In Chhattisgarh, there were proposals to oust state president Deepak Baij after defeat first in the Assembly and then in the Lok Sabha. Baji could not retain his seat in the Lok Sabha elections. In this regard, Congress is also working to revive the organization.
6. Mallikarjun Kharge was elected president of the country two years ago and since then he has been unable to organize his entire team. Several of the chief secretaries-general on Haag’s team have been in office for many years. Harger is also said to be able to form his own new team.
7. Many heads in Congress are responsible for multiple states. Interestingly, these chiefs have not proven effective in any state. For example, the Congress lost in Madhya Pradesh and Assam under the leadership of Bhanwar Jitendra Singh. The same is true of Ajoy Kumar and other responsible persons.
8. In Bangladesh too, only the Chairman is appointed. Congress could soon form an executive here. There was no organization at the district level in Bangladesh for a long time.
9. Devendra Yadav took over the reins of the party in Delhi after Arvinder Singh Lovely. However, Devendra remains the interim president. Now the discussion here is whether Congress will hand over the responsibilities of formal president to a new face or hand over the role of formal president to Yadav. Assembly elections will be held in Delhi in two months.
Congress party continues to lose ground in northern India
After 2022, no Congress government has been formed in any northern Indian state. The Congress did come to power in Jharkhand, but with the help of its ally Mukti Morcha of Jharkhand. Congress lost elections in states such as Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Haryana and Maharashtra.
In most states, the Congress is in direct competition with the BJP. If we look at the entire 5-year record, from 2019 to 2024, Congress lost a total of 34 elections. These include two Lok Sabha elections.
