Congress is satisfied with Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar’s remarks on farmers, says

Jairam Ramesh and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar

The political atmosphere has heated up after Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar made a statement amid farmers’ protests. Vice President Dhankhar on Tuesday raised issues regarding farmers with the central government and targeted Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan. Talking about a scheme, he had said that if farmers were given fair prices, then the mountains would not be broken. Now Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has expressed happiness over the issue and said the issues raised by the Vice President are the same issues raised by our party and Rahul Gandhi for the past five years.

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said that we respect the Vice President and further added that he is the guardian of the Union House and the protector of the Constitution. The question he asked the agriculture minister is the same question the Congress party has been asking the prime minister for the past four-five years. We want to have a discussion on this issue, we’ve informed you about it, and we’re pleased that the Vice President has raised this issue.

Jairam Ramesh talks about 5 demands of farmers

Jairam Ramesh said that we have been asking three questions about farmers in the past five years. When will farmers get the legal status of MSP? You had promised to fix the MSP at the same level by increasing the entire farming cost by one and a half times. You have waived off Rs 1,600 crore of loans to private companies, so when will farmers’ loans be waived? Here are three questions farmers, Congress and the public are asking. What has this government done for farmers?

What did Dhankar say?

Jagdeep Dhankhar said that farmers were also agitating last year and the same is true this year. Time is passing and we are doing nothing. During this period, Dankar said, this is the first time I have seen changes in India. For the first time, I felt that a developed India was not our dream, but our goal. India’s standing in the world has never been higher. Why should my farmers be concerned when this happens? This is a very profound question. Taking things lightly means we are not practical. Our policymaking is not on the right track.
