Union Home Minister Amit Shah lashed out at the Congress in the Union House on Tuesday. He said the country’s main opposition party treated the constitution as a family’s personal property and deceived Parliament. Additionally, Amit Shah also targeted the Congress by mentioning reservation, Kaka Kalekar’s report and the Mandal Commission.

Elaborating on the government’s position during a two-day discussion in the House of Representatives on the glorious 75 years of the Indian Constitution, Amit Shah claimed that the Congress wanted to break the 50% reservation limit and grant reservation to Muslims. He also accused the Congress of practicing appeasement politics.

Treat the Constitution as our personal property.

He said Congress has committed fraud in the name of the Constitution over the past 75 years. The Nehru-Gandhi family not only regarded the political party as their personal property but also the Constitution as their personal property. Amit Shah criticized the Congress for proposing reservations on religious grounds in two Congress-ruled states and termed them unconstitutional.

No reservations due to religious beliefs

The home minister said the constitution clearly stipulates that there will be no reservation on religious grounds. Congress only wants to preserve the rights of Muslims by raising the limit to 50%. “Today, I again responsibly say in the House that as long as the BJP has even one MP, we will not allow reservation on the basis of religion,” Shah said.

Amit Shah said the Kaka Kalekar Committee was formed in 1955 to provide reservation to the OBC but the report never came out and if the recommendations of the Kaka Kalekar Committee were accepted then the Mandal Commission will not be established. The recommendations of the Mandal Commission were made in 1980 but were not implemented. This was implemented in 1990 when Congress fell.

Amend the constitution for selfish gain

Amit Shah claimed that the Congress amended the constitution to stay in power and for its own benefit. He accused the Congress of being anti-reservation and said it was never for the benefit of backward classes. Shah also alleged that the Congress had deprived Muslim women of their rights over the years due to vote bank politics. Congress has done nothing but honor a family.

He said the Congress government had shamelessly made many changes in the constitution just to achieve their goals. Amit Shah said that the BJP had ruled the country for 16 years and amended the constitution 22 times, while the Congress had amended the constitution 77 times in 55 years.

He said both the BJP and the Congress had made changes, but for what purpose? What is the goal to be achieved? Are these changes designed to strengthen our democracy? Are changes being made to give those who don’t have equal rights? Or is it to preserve his royal power? This will reflect the nature of the party, the party’s governance style and the party’s constitutional beliefs.

Baba Saheb is mentioned

Amit Shah mentioned in this sequence four amendments moved by the Congress party and four amendments moved during the BJP-led government. He said the framer of the constitution, Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar, thoughtfully said that no matter how good the constitution is, it will turn out badly if the people responsible for implementing it are not good. Likewise, he said, no matter how bad a constitution is, it can also be proven to be good if those in power play a positive and good role.

He said that the first amendment to the Constitution was framed during the period of the first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and added Article 19A. Shah said the amendment was an attempt to restrict freedom of speech. Similarly, the introduction of the 24th Amendment also weakened the basic rights of citizens.

Pay full attention to the country’s traditions

He lashed out at opposition parties for raising questions about the EVM and said they should be ashamed. Shah said the Indian Constitution is not a copy of anyone’s. He said that while the Indian Constitution absorbed the advantages of the constitutions of various countries, it also fully took care of our country’s traditions. Stressing on getting rid of the slave mentality, the Home Minister said that if you see India through the prism of India, you will never understand India. Entire lives will disappear. That is why the opposition parties also named their alliance India.

Without naming Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Amit Shah said some politicians who are now 54 years old still call themselves young. If you continue to wander around, you will change the constitution, you will change the constitution. I want to tell them that the provisions for amending the Constitution are in Article 368 of the Constitution.

Targeting the Congress, he said that after the election defeat, people from this party were wandering around with EVM, saying that EVM defeated them. He said the Supreme Court dismissed 24 EVM-related petitions and the Election Commission invited people to attack the EVM for three days but no one came.

He said the opposition was wiped out in the recent Maharashtra Assembly elections. He did not name anyone but said the people of Maharashtra had punished treason for violating the mandate. Shah said the Congress won in Jharkhand that day. Maharashtra had issues with EVM, while in Jharkhand he went to Thapa and took oath wearing new clothes. Hey brother, shame on you, the public is watching.

He criticized the Congress for imposing Emergency in the country and overthrowing the elected government by imposing Article 356. Discussing the constitutional amendments, he said the Nehru government set up the Muslim Personal Law Board but failed to implement Sharia rules in criminal matters. He said that the policy of appeasement was being followed in the country from the time the Muslim Personal Law Commission was established.

The senior BJP leader accused the Congress of disrespecting the Constitution and said if Congress respected the Constitution, its policies of corruption, nepotism and appeasement would not continue. He said if the opposition leaves the trio, it will start winning elections. He asked whether the Congress supports Muslim personal laws?
