The Election Commission has dismissed Congress’ allegations of election irregularities in Haryana as baseless. The Electoral Commission issued a statement on Tuesday warning Congress and other political parties against making baseless and sensational complaints at sensitive times such as voting and counting days. The committee said the irresponsible accusations could lead to public disorder and anarchy.
The Electoral Commission called on Congress to stop making baseless accusations in election after election and condemned the party for making accusations in the face of unexpected election results. The committee urges Congress to take firm, concrete steps to curb the trend of such complaints.
The committee said that every stage of the Haryana election process was flawless and was conducted under the supervision of Congress candidates or agents. Electoral officials in 26 assembly constituencies conducted intensive re-verification. Congress received 1,600 pages of responses to all complaints from election board officials.
The Chief Electoral Officer of Haryana also dismissed the Congress’ complaint in the Assembly elections.
Congress raised these charges
Let us tell you that this reaction by the Election Commission comes after the Congress expressed concern over battery status showing over 99% on EVMs during Haryana election counting, complained that the machines may have been tampered with and accused officials of deliberately delaying the counting of votes . The process came later.
Congress leader Pawan Kheda claimed that complaints have been received from Hisar, Mahendragarh and Panipat and that the BJP won on EVMs with 99% power while the Congress won on EVMs with 60-70% power. Meanwhile, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has said, do you understand the conspiracy? The EVM battery charge is 99%, the BJP wins, the battery charge is less than 70%, the Congress wins. If this isn’t a conspiracy, what is? Complaints have been received from 12 to 14 seats so far, he said.
Apart from this, the Congress also accused the commission of serious and obvious irregularities in the electoral process of 20 assembly constituencies in Haryana. The Congress said that Narnaul, Karnal, Dabwali, Rewari, Hodal (SC), Kalka, Panipat City, Indri, Badkhal, Faridabad NIT, Nalwa, Rania, Pataudi (SC), Palwal, Ballabhgarh, Barwala, Uchana Kalan, Gharaunda, complaints were filed from Congress candidate for Kosli and Badshapur Assembly constituencies. These include seats where the party’s candidate narrowly lost the election and Haryana Congress president Uday Bhan is also among the complainants.
BJP wins 48 seats
Let us tell you that the BJP won a huge majority in the Haryana Assembly elections by winning 48 out of 90 seats. Meanwhile, the Congress party, which failed to capitalize on the anti-incumbency wave of the Bharatiya Janata Party that had been in power for ten years, was able to win 37 seats. Apart from this, INLD also won 2 seats. Additionally, independent candidates also won. However, he declared his support to the BJP after meeting the high command.
