Congress 4 seats, NCP-BJP 2-2… How many chief ministerial contenders are there in Maharashtra riots?

How many contenders are there for Maharashtra Chief Minister?

For the first time, Maharashtra’s Dangal has fielded around 12 chief ministerial candidates from six major parties. Among them, the number of candidates for the position of Member of Parliament is the highest. Currently, there are at least four such faces in the big party who are contenders for the chief ministership. Sharad Pawar’s National Congress Party (NCP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party have two such faces who are in talks to become chief ministers in the future.

In addition to these eight faces, there are three other faces who have publicly expressed their desire to become the chief minister. The three names are: Eknath Shinde, Uddhav Thackeray and Ajit Pawar. In this story, let us know about all the contenders for the post of Chief Minister of Maharashtra.

Let’s start with Eknath Shinde

Current Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is once again a contender for the Chief Ministership. His party Shivsena (Shinde) is contesting in about 80 seats in Maharashtra. When Shinde rebelled in 2022, he had only 40 MLAs, but the BJP handed him the chief minister’s post. It is said that if a similar equation can be established this time, Shinde can get the position of CM.

Ajit Pawar expresses his wish

Ajit Pawar, deputy chief minister in the Eknath Shinde government, has expressed his desire to become the chief minister on multiple public platforms. Ajit Pawar recently said that I cannot be promoted from the deputy position. It is said that Ajit rebelled against Sharad Pawar just to get the chief minister’s post.

Uddhav Thackeray keeps demanding

Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray is also in the race for the chief ministership. Uddhav’s party has repeatedly asked all parties in the Indian alliance to declare him chief minister. In 2019, when the Mahavikas Aghadi government was formed with the support of Sharad Pawar and the Congress party, Uddhav was appointed as the chief minister.

Currently, there are 2 contenders for the post of Chief Minister of the Bharatiya Janata Party

The BJP is currently the largest party in the Maharashtra Assembly. Devendra Fadnavis is the Deputy Chief Minister of the Bharatiya Janata Party. It is said that Fadnavis will become the chief minister if the government is formed. Recently, a poster related to Fadnavis at the BJP office made headlines.

If the BJP government fails to reach consensus on Fadnavis’ name after taking office, it is said that Vinod Tod could also hand over the chief minister’s post. Todd, a former Maharashtra minister, is now the state secretary.

2 leading candidates from Sharad’s party

Apart from Sharad Pawar, there are two main contenders for the post of chief minister of NCP (Sharad). Among them, the first name is Supriya Sule and the second name is Jayant Patil. Supriya Sule is the daughter of NCP (Sharad) working president Sharad Pawar. Sharad Pawar’s nephew Ajit told a rally that I cannot become the chief minister as I am not the child of any leader.

Jayant Patil’s claims were recently given a further boost by Sharad Pawar. “I hope Jayant is ready to take on big responsibilities,” Pawar said at a rally.

Up to 4 contenders for Congress

At the old major party congress, the maximum number of contenders for the post of chief minister was four. Among them, the names of Nana Patole, Bala Saheb Thorat, Vijay Wadettiwar and Prithviraj Chavan stand out. Prithviraj Chavan is the former CM of Maharashtra. Currently running for the Legislature.

Maharashtra Congress president Nana Patole is the frontrunner for the chief minister’s post. Patole is the one who best remembers the formula that the party that wins the most seats will become the CM. Patole served as the Speaker of the Maharashtra Assembly.

Balasaheb Thorat is considered to be close to the high command. Recently, when there was an impasse over the seat distribution issue, the Congress proposed Thorat on the instructions of the high command.

OBC opponent Vijay Wadettiwar is currently the Leader of the Opposition in Parliament. He is also considered a contender for the chief ministership.

288 seats election, 145 number contest

Maharashtra will hold elections for 288 assembly seats. Here 145 MLAs are needed to form a government. On one hand, the BJP, Shiv Sena (Shinde) and NCP (Ajit) are competing against Mahayuti, while on the other hand, the Shiv Sena (Uddhav), NCP (Sharad) and the Congress are also in the fray.
