Eknath Shinde and Devendra Fadnavis
After his landslide victory in the Maharashtra assembly elections, there was a fierce internal debate over the chief ministership of Mahayuthy. The match was between Devendra Fadnavis and Eknath Shinde. Only time will tell who will win. But before that, leaders from both sides had different opinions. Maharashtra BJP leaders have demanded the appointment of Fadnavis as chief minister, while Shiv Sena (Shindhi) leaders have called for handing over command of the state to Eknath Shinde. Shiv Sena MP Naresh Mhaske also suggested adopting the Bihar model in the state. He said just as the BJP appointed Nitish Kumar as the chief minister of Bihar, it should also appoint Shinde as the chief minister of Maharashtra. However, the BJP does not agree with the views of the Sindh group leader.
Why Bihar model cannot be implemented?
BJP spokesperson Prem Shukla said the Bihar model cannot be implemented in Maharashtra. Even before the Bihar elections, the BJP had discussed making Nitish Kumar the chief minister and later conferred the honor on him. We have not made any such commitment in Maharashtra because our base and leadership here are strong.
He said we have not given any promise that Sindh will become the chief minister after the elections. During the campaign, party leaders kept saying that the CM would make a decision after the results. This statement by Prem Shukla comes after Eknath Shinde resigned as chief minister. However, the Governor has appointed him as caretaker Chief Minister.
As far as the assembly election results are concerned, the BJP won 132 seats, the Shiv Sena won 57 seats and the National Congress won 41 seats. He has returned to power. Maha Vikas Aghadi will again wait for the coming of power.
Sindh tries to lighten the mood
Shiv Sena MP Naresh Mhasik on Monday demanded that the chief ministership should be on Bihar model and Eknath Shinde should be the chief minister again. However, the BJP wants to make Fadnavis the chief minister. The leader of the party said that since it has 132 seats, there is no problem of the chief minister leaving the party. The party has already paid a price for this.
In statements issued by both parties, Shinde sought to lighten the mood. He posted on social media platform X in an attempt to quell the controversy over the CM’s post.
He said after Mahayuthi’s victory, our government will be formed again in the state. We fought the elections together as Mahayutthi and we are still together today. Some people called for everyone to come to Bombay out of love for me. I am so grateful for your love. But I appeal to anyone not to gather in support of me like this.
Senior Army leader Deepak Kesarkar echoed Shinde’s statement and said any decision taken by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be taken by all. accepted.
Ramdas Athawale speaks for Fadnavis
Meanwhile, Union minister and NDA ally Republican Party of India (A) president Ramdas Athawale advised Shinde to allow Fadnavis as chief minister. Atharwal said Eknath Shinde and his party believed that they should be given another chance and the Bihar model should be implemented in Maharashtra. But the situation in Maharashtra is different and the Bihar model cannot be implemented.
I think he (Shinde) should be part of the state government and become the deputy chief minister, he said. If he does not want to become Deputy Chief Minister, he can become Union Minister of Delhi.
Why is there a delay?
There was a delay in finding out who would be the face of the chief minister, so to some extent, the delay was caused by the BJP. In fact, the Shiv Sena has elected its party leader in the legislature. The leader of the Legislature has been elected from the NCP, while the leader of the Legislature is yet to be elected from among the BJP legislators. Experts also say that the BJP is considering alternatives other than Devendra Fadnavis for the chief minister’s post, but the final choice is yet to be finalized, hence the entire process has been delayed.
