Chief Minister Nitish Kumar pays tribute to Indian women’s hockey team
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar paid tribute to the Indian women’s hockey team for winning the 2024 Bihar Women’s Asian Hockey Championship Trophy at a ceremony held at the Bhaputa Auditorium in Patna on Sunday. Each player and head coach of the winning team received a bonus of Rs 10 lakh. While the support staff were given Rs 5 lakh. Many departments and officials who contributed to the success of the event were also honored.
Teams from India, China, Japan, South Korea, Thailand and Indonesia participated in this international competition held in Rajgir. In the end, the Indian team defeated the Chinese team and won the championship. The Chief Minister congratulated the entire women’s hockey team, including coach Harendra Singh, captain Salima Tait and vice-captain Navneet Kaur, for their outstanding performance. He described the historic event as a proud moment for Bihar.
A new starting point for game development
The chief minister said such international events will promote sports in the state and inspire young athletes. He called the tournament historic and said he was committed to further promoting such events in the future. The event was attended by Sports Minister Surendra Mehta, officials from various departments and all members of the women’s hockey team.
Contribution of the administrative team
The contribution of Nalanda and Gaya district administration, sports department, construction department and Bihar Police Academy were also appreciated for the project. The Chief Minister presented commendations to all these departments. Additionally, Hockey India General Secretary Bhola Nath Singh welcomed the Chief Minister and presented him with souvenirs. A documentary related to the competition was also screened during the event, showcasing this success.
