The NPP, which recently withdrew its support from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Manipur government, on Thursday said it could reconsider its decision if the BJP supports Chief Minister N.B.B. if she ousts Biren Singh.
National People’s Party (NPP) national vice-president Yumnan Chaukumar Singh said three of the party’s seven MLAs attended the meeting convened by the chief minister but they should not have done so because of concerns over the government’s Support has been withdrawn.
NPP has withdrawn government support
However, after the NPP withdrew its support on Sunday, it had no impact on the BJP-led government as the party holds an absolute majority in the 60-member assembly with 32 MLAs. The Naga People’s Front and Janata Dal (United) were also included in the ruling alliance.
Demanding removal of Chief Minister Biren Singh
Joykumar Singh said Chief Minister Biren Singh has completely failed to bring normalcy to Manipur. This is the main reason why our country’s President (Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma) withdrew his support. He said if Biren Singh is removed from office, the new government is likely to take necessary steps to restore normalcy. The NPP can then reconsider its decision.
