Rajouri, September 14: Security forces exchanged fire with terrorists at Pathanateer village in Mendhar substation of Poonch district on Saturday night.
The exchange of fire took place during a cordon and search operation (CASO) conducted by security forces in the area.
Officials said that during a CASO operation in neighbouring villages of Pathanathil and Mendhar divisions, a joint team of the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police opened fire on the search party, which was retaliated and a brief exchange of fire took place.
“A cordon has been tightened in the area and searches have been intensified to track down the terrorists,” they said. No new shooting was immediately reported after the initial exchange of fire.
