Citroen Basalt launched Price and Features: French car manufacturer Citroen has today officially launched its new coupe-style SUV Citroen Basalt for sale in the Indian market. Citroen has introduced this new SUV at a starting price of just Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom). With its launch, the company has also started its official booking. Its customers can book through the company’s dealership and official website with a token amount of just Rs 11,001. Let us tell you that this is an introductory price which will be applicable only on vehicles booked till 31st October. This means that in future the company can increase the price of this SUV.

How is Citroen Basalt:

Let us tell you that Basalt is inspired by the company’s C3 Aircross model. Its front face is quite similar to the Aircross. However, it has a sloping roofline which gives it a coupe-body style. It has newly designed alloy wheels, LED tail lamp and chunky dual-tone rear bumper. It has been introduced in 5 monotone color options which include Polar White, Steel Grey, Platinum Grey, Cosmo Blue and Garnet Red. Contrast black roof is also available with white and color options.

Power and Performance:

The company has launched Basalt in the market with only two petrol engine options. In this SUV, the company has given a three-cylinder petrol engine of 1.2 liter capacity. Which generates power of 82hp and torque of 115Nm. Its turbo petrol engine generates power of 110hp. This turbo engine is mated to 6-speed manual gearbox and torque converter gearbox. Whereas in naturally aspirated engine only 5-speed manual transmission option is available.

Cabin and Features:

Many attempts have been made to make the cabin of Basalt premium to a great extent. Although its dashboard is similar to C3 Aircross. It has features like 10.25 inch touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, three-spoke steering wheel, rear AC vents, wireless Apple Car Play and Android Auto connectivity.

The company has made some minor changes in it and introduced it with Basalt. It also gets adjustable thigh support for the rear seat, which is being seen for the first time in the segment. The company claims that this car has a boot space of 470 litres.

Let us tell you that Citroen has only announced the price of the base model. In the coming time, the company will reveal the prices of its other variants. If we look at it immediately, this SUV will directly compete with Tata Curve in the Indian market. Whose prices are going to be announced on 2nd September. But Citroen has definitely put a pressure on Tata Motors by launching this SUV at a very affordable price. Let us tell you that at present the price of Tata Nexon, which is the second most affordable SUV of Tata, starts from Rs 7.99 lakh.
