China launches “Dream” mission to send 3 astronauts to the space station

China’s space missions: China launched its Shenzhou 19 space mission on Wednesday. In this mission, three Chinese astronauts set off to the Tiangong Space Station for a six-month mission. What’s special is that China’s first female aerospace engineer performed this mission. The Tiangong team will conduct experiments under the space program, which aims to send astronauts to the moon and establish a base there by 2030.

Launch successful

The mission was launched from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China at 4:27 a.m. Beijing time, the China Manned Space Administration (CMSA) said. Ten minutes after the launch mission, the Shenzhou 19th spacecraft separated from the rocket and entered the predetermined orbit. CMSA said that all astronauts were safe and the launch was a complete success.

Who was involved in this mission?

The crew of Nazhou 19 includes mission commander Cai Xuezhe and astronauts Song Lingdong and Wang Haoze. Wang Haojie is the only female aerospace engineer in China. Cai Xuezhe is an experienced astronaut. He had previously participated in the Shenzhou 14 mission in 2022. China’s third batch of astronauts Song and Wang will set foot in space for the first time.

Astronauts face challenges

Astronauts face many challenges during the mission, including conducting space science and application testing, installing protective gear, and installing additional vehicle payloads and instruments. China Space Administration spokesperson Lin Ziqiang said before the launch that they will carry out space scientific research and technology experiments, covering a wide range of fields such as space life sciences, basic microgravity physics, space materials science, space medicine and new space technologies.

when will you come back

According to the China Manned Space Engineering Administration, the Shenzhou 19th astronauts will return to the Dongfeng Landing Site in China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in late April or early May next year. CMSA revealed in April that China has launched more than 130 scientific research and application projects on the space station.
