The foyer of the Office of the Chief of Army Staff, located in the South Block, has undergone some internal changes. As a result of these changes, the opposition renewed its attacks on the government. In fact, the historical painting of Pakistan’s surrender in 1971 in the lounge has been removed and a new one installed.
Raising the issue in Parliament, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi said there was a photo of Pakistani troops surrendering in front of Indian troops in the army headquarters. She is engaged. Its removal insults them (the military). This is a national issue, why are you trying to be political on this and we want that picture to hang up again.
What’s new in the new paintings?
The new painting installed in the Indian Army Chief of Staff Lounge has since generated much discussion and the painting has also gone viral on social media. The Pangong Lake in Ladakh can be seen in this painting with modern boats and Chanakya. There are modern tanks and all-terrain vehicles here, as well as Krishna who drove the Arjun chariot in the Mahabharata war at Kurukshetra. There are Apache helicopters in the sky and Garuda can be seen.
In fact, it can be seen from this new painting that the current focus of the military is modernization and transformation. The focus now is not Pakistan, but China.
Retarded officers also questioned the change. In fact, the old painting depicts the 1971 war between India and Pakistan, when the Indian army surrendered 90,000 soldiers. In the photo, General Niazi signs the surrender document. This photo is considered the most popular photo.
Central government’s response
Briefing the Lok Sabha, Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said the painting has been installed at the Sam Manekshaw Auditorium with full respect ) so that more people can get inspiration from it. I feel that before making such political comments one should consider the issues related to the bravery and honor of the Indian Army.
Army Reply
Replying to Priyanka Gandhi’s question, the Indian Army said in a statement, “The 1971 photograph has been placed at the most appropriate location. The aim is to enable as many people as possible to see the surrender painting,” said General Upendradwivedi COAS Together with AWWA President Sunita Dwivedi, the iconic 1971 surrender painting was installed at the most appropriate site, with the Manekshaw Center named after architect and 1971 war hero, Field Marshal Sam. This photo is installed at the Manekshaw Center in New Delhi.
Where are the photos posted?
The lounge in the South Block Office of the Army Staff is where the Army Chief of Staff meets guests and takes photos. But now that photo has been deleted from there. Something is clear from this new picture, the focus is now not on Pakistan but on China.
The new painting depicts the high technology and development of the military as an integrated force. This shows that the Indian Army has modern systems, coordinated by sea, land and air, and can launch rapid strikes against opponents.
