Congress President Malikajun Haq
Regarding the no-confidence motion moved against Union House Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar, Congress president Malikajun Haq said the chairman should remain impartial. The Chairman transcends politics. He further said that there was less discussion and more politicking in the House.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Indian electorate, an alliance of opposition parties, submitted a notice to Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar, accusing him of biased behavior and proposing his removal from the post of Vice President. The opposition claimed that this step was necessary because of Danka’s ultra-partisan manner in conducting proceedings in the federal chamber.
If a no-confidence motion is allowed in the House, the opposition will need a simple majority to pass it, although they do not have the numerical advantage to do so. There are currently 243 members of the Federal Council, and the ruling New Democratic Alliance currently holds the majority.
