CBI’s big action against bribe takers in MP, pile of currency notes found in Singrauli

CBI has arrested officials of Northern Coalfields Limited, from whom around Rs 4 crore in cash has been recovered. Ensuring zero tolerance towards corruption, the CBI has arrested Subedar Ojha, Private Secretary to the Manager (Secretariat) and CMD, Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), after Rs 3.85 crore in cash was recovered from his residence during a search conducted on August 17. Arrested.

This amount was allegedly collected in his favor from several contractors and officials for his operations at Singrauli-based NCL. CBI has also arrested Ravi Shankar Singh, middleman and owner of M/s Sangam Engineering, Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh, who was allegedly acting as an intermediary between various contractors/traders and several officials of Northern Coalfields Limited. The allegation is that he was bribing and providing facilities to these officials of Northern Coalfields Limited.

CBI’s ACB caught taking bribe

Divesh Singh, an associate of Ravi Shankar Singh of M/s Sangam Engineering, Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh, was also found guilty of giving a bribe of Rs 5 lakh to Joy Joseph Damle, ACB, Superintendent of Police, CBI, in lieu of obtaining favorable reports in the cases of complaints pending against him in the CBI. Was arrested red handed. Ravi Shankar Singh and his associates were acting as middlemen between NCL (Northern Coalfields Limited) officials and JJ Damle, and have also been arrested.

Bribe amount sent to Subedar Ojha

It is alleged that on August 16, on the instructions of Ravi Shankar Singh, Ravi Singh’s employee Ajay Verma had received the above undue benefit of Rs 5 lakh from the Chief Manager (Administration), Singrauli, Lt. Col. Basant Kumar Singh (Retd.). The bribe amount was allegedly sent by Subedar Ojha and on August 17, Ravi Shankar Singh had instructed Divesh Singh to deliver this amount to ACB Jabalpur, CBI Deputy SP JJ Damle.

Case against these accused

Earlier, a regular case under Section 7, 7A, 8 of the PC Act (as amended in 2018) read with Section 61(2) of the Indian Judicial Code was registered against Ravi Shankar Singh. A case was registered against Lieutenant Colonel Basant Kumar Singh, Subedar Ojha, Divesh Singh and Joy Joseph Damle, other officers and unknown others.
