There is a strike of resident doctors from Delhi to Lucknow on Monday in protest against the murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal. As this matter gained momentum, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also met the victim’s family. Meanwhile, the Resident Doctors Association of Delhi AIIMS has put forward six demands.
The Resident Doctors Association of Delhi AIIMS has demanded a CBI inquiry into the matter. Along with this, RG has also demanded to terminate the Principal, MS and Security Incharge of Kar Medical College Hospital with immediate effect.
In the six-point demands of the association, written assurance has also been sought from the Central Government that the Central Protection Act will be implemented for doctors. There has also been a demand to name a building or library in the hospital after the victim doctor and to give him the status of martyr. Along with giving appropriate compensation to the victim’s family, there has also been a demand to take strict action against police harassment.
What did Mamata Banerjee say?
There is anger across the country after the rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata. Meanwhile, after meeting the victim’s family, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has given a statement on the demand for CBI investigation in the case. He said that if the police do not make any revelations in this matter till Sunday, then this case will be handed over to CBI. In this way, CM Banerjee has given time till Sunday to the police to investigate the matter.
On this matter, Kolkata’s DCP North Abhishek Gupta said that the names of the people coming to the hospital will be entered in the register from now on. Doctors have demanded to increase security around the hospital. Guards will be given identity cards which they will have to wear at all times while on duty. This is the first step towards increasing security.
What is the matter?
On the morning of August 9, there was a sensation when the dead body of a trainee doctor was found in the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. The accused first murdered the female doctor and then raped her. The doctor was sleeping alone in the seminar hall of the hospital. He protested, but was strangled to death.
The post-mortem report said that the victim was bleeding from both her eyes and mouth. There were injuries on the face. There was bleeding from her private parts also. He also had injuries on his stomach, left leg, neck, right hand, finger and lip. As soon as information about this incident was received on Saturday morning, police reached the spot.
During the initial investigation, the police found a Bluetooth earbud from the spot, through which they were able to reach the accused. Actually, the police tried to connect that Bluetooth to the phones of many people, but that Bluetooth was connected only to the phone of the accused. After this the accused Sanjay Roy was arrested. The accused is a civic volunteer.
