CBI arrests 7 people, including IRS officials, in bribery case, finds properties worth crores

The CBI arrested a total of seven people, including two IRS officials, in the bribery case. Cash of Rs 50 lakh has been recovered from the arrested persons. Apart from this, 25 property documents worth over Rs 40 crore were also found. Let us tell you that they also had 3 luxury cars impounded. According to information received by the CBI, these officials used to take bribes in the name of tax exemption. Among them, six defendants include two IRS officials, all of whom are civil servants. CBI launches massive raids in Mumbai

We informed that searches were conducted at the official and residential premises of the accused at various locations in Mumbai, resulting in the discovery of 25 immovable property documents, among others. Let us tell you that these officials are also accused of having private individuals (middlemen) accepting bribes on behalf of SEEPZ-SEZ officials. The cash worth around Rs 60 lakh was allegedly collected by him and kept in his office at SEEPZ Andheri premises in an envelope containing the bribe amount, name of the briber and the name of the official who paid the bribe.

Several police officers were arrested and further investigation is ongoing.

Further, the arrested police officer is also alleged that the above-mentioned middleman (private person) also received a bribe of Rs 1.5 million from a private person on December 12, 2024, which he allegedly handed over to the accused JDC, who 7 lakhs were collected which they kept for themselves and a bribe of 8 lakhs was paid to the SEEPZ officials, of which Rs 4 lakh was seized during the search. Regarding this matter, CBI said that further investigation is under way.
