RRR star Jr NTR’s next film ‘Devra’ is ready for release. The film will be released on September 27. The heroine is Janhvi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan plays the villain.
Junior NTR, one of the top stars of the Telugu industry, is hoping to attract the Hindi audience with Devra, which is being released in 5 languages including Hindi. NTR has established himself firmly with his dubbed films which are already popular in the Hindi market of North India. Apart from this, his clear Hindi also left a deep impression on the public during the promotion of RRR. Then in the promos and trailers of ‘Devra’, he did a great Hindi dubbing in his own voice.
Based on all these positive things, Junior NTR hopes to see ‘Devra’ become a hit not just in Hindi but across all languages. But there’s a big obstacle in his way…the problem is his former director S.S. Rajamouli was also present. The name of Rajamouli is also associated with a myth in the Telugu industry i.e. ‘The Curse of Rajamouli’.
What is “Rajamouli’s Curse”?
Rajamouli has made a total of 12 movies, including “RRR”, “Baahubali”, “Magadheela”, etc., all of which have achieved great success. But when the actor, who was Rajamouli’s hero in all these films, teamed up with another director for his next film, his film didn’t work out. In fact, in most cases, after his film with Rajamouli, the next film he starred in flopped miserably.
SS Junior NTR was the hero of Rajamouli’s first film Student No. 1 (2001). This will be NTR’s first starring role as a child actor, but preparations will take a long time. Even before that, his official debut film Ninnu Choodalani had been released in theaters but failed.
After its release, Rajamouli’s Student No. 1 became the highest-grossing Telugu film of the year. After Rajamouli’s film, Jr NTR’s next film is ‘Subbu’. This blockbuster hero movie was a miserable failure. This was the beginning of Junior NTR’s career and one felt that getting a speedbreaker and success was not that big of a deal at this stage of his career.

Rajamouli once again cast Jr. NTR as the hero in his second film “Simhadri” (2002). The success made Simhadri the biggest Telugu film of 2002. But after that, when Junior NTR’s next film Andhrawala (2004) was released, he once again faced a huge failure at the box office. From here, people started noticing a pattern: after working with Rajamouli, their hero’s next film flopped.
Rajamouli made his third appearance as an NTR actor in “Yamdonga” (2007). The duo has once again given Telugu cinema the biggest hit of the year. But just after that, NTR’s film “Kantri”, which he collaborated with another director, received a lot of negative reviews. Rajamouli’s star power and Jr NTR’s charisma went some way to saving the film from a fiasco. But the film, which earned very modest income, became one of his least popular.

Rajamouli’s third film ‘Sye’ (2004) hero Nithin’s next film also failed. Before RRR, Ram Charan had worked with Rajamouli in the film Magadheera. But after two films with Rajamouli, Ram Charan’s next film not only failed but also proved to be a disaster.
Rajamouli’s blockbuster film “Vikramarkudu” (2006) was remade in Hindi as “Rowdy Rathore”. Ravi Teja is one of the heroes. But after this, Ravi Teja’s film Khatanaak failed to create any box office miracle. Even this coincidence happened with Prabhas.
Prabhas first worked with Rajamouli in the film Chhatrapati (2005), which made him a top star in the Telugu industry overnight. But since then his three films have failed. For the audience, watching Prabhas in the Baahubali series is an amazing experience in itself. But after this, first in “Saaho” and then in “Rach Shyam”, perhaps the public might not find Prabhas to be the great hero that people expected him to be. Talk about “Adipurush”!
