Babar Azam has been chasing Rohit Sharma’s world record for a long time but has yet to succeed in breaking it. Even though Babar didn’t need to score a lot for it, he still couldn’t achieve the feat.
In fact, the batsman who has scored the most runs in T20 Internationals currently is Rohit Sharma. During his career, he played 159 T20 internationals and scored 4231 runs. After winning the T20 World Cup, Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from the tournament. That said, his runs haven’t increased between then and now, but his record remains intact nonetheless.
Babar Azam shares close relationship with Rohit Sharma
Babar Azam is currently ranked second in this list. Babar Azam has played 127 T20 international matches so far and scored 4129 runs. This means Babar only needs 40 more runs to overtake Rohit Sharma and reach the number one spot. But even those runs were not scored. Even in the first match of the T20 series between Pakistan and South Africa, Babar Azam got out without using his account and his wait has been getting longer since then.
Babar Azam failed completely
If we talk about the last four T20 internationals, Babar Azam was able to cross double figures only once, while in the rest of the games he scored in single digits. Whether we talk about T20s or ODIs and Tests. Babar Azam does not score in any format. However, there are still two games left in the South Africa series.
