Campaigning for the first phase of the Jharkhand Assembly elections will conclude on Monday evening. The state’s 43 seats will go to polls on November 13. Campaigning will cease 48 hours before voting

Jharkhand Chief Electoral Officer Ravi Kumar said on Sunday that the first phase of campaigning will be halted on Monday evening. Strict security measures were taken on the day of voting.

He said that in many seats, voting will continue until 5 pm, while in some polling stations, voting will continue until 4 pm. Therefore, the campaign will stop 48 hours ago.

He said no outsider could remain in the constituency as the campaign ended. People from political parties must come from parliamentary constituencies. Even after the campaign is over, action will be taken against them if they are spotted in any assembly constituency.

Political party camps will not be held near religious sites

Arrangements have been made for airdropping of electoral personnel via helicopter to 225 election stations in five districts of Lathar, Lohardaga, West Singhbhum, Gumla and Ghawar on Monday, he said.

He said that on the day of voting, candidates organized camps near polling stations. Prior permission from the Election Commission must be obtained and the camp should be located within a 200 meter radius of the polling station. Camping at religious sites or encroached areas is prohibited. It will also be prohibited to post symbols, photos, flags, banners, etc. related to the candidates in the camp.

He called on voters to bring their electoral slips with them on election day. He said people who do not have a voter ID card can vote with 12 other types of valid ID documents.
