By-elections: Congress wins in Wayanad, NAND, BJP wins in Uttar Pradesh; Know the results in 48 seats

Along with the Maharashtra and Jharkhand assembly elections, the results of by-elections for 48 seats in 15 states have also been announced. This also includes Wayanad Lok Sabha seat in Kerala and Nanded Lok Sabha seat in Maharashtra. Out of 15 states, the BJP won in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Gujarat and Rajasthan. Meanwhile, the opposition Indian Alliance suffered a crushing defeat in by-elections held in four assembly seats in Bihar state. The NDA won all four seats. Among them, the BJP won the Tharari and Ramgarh seats, Nitish Kumar’s JDU won the Beraganj seat and the Jamaat Party won the Imaganj seat. The RJD-Congress account was not even open at the time of the by-election.

The BJP won five out of seven seats in the by-elections held in Rajasthan. The Congress lost three seats in the election and the party had to settle for third place in four seats. The BJP won Jhunjhunu, Deoli Uniara, Ramgarh, Khinvsar and Salumber assembly seats. Meanwhile, the Congress Party won the Dausa seat and the Adivasi Party won the Cholasi parliamentary seat.

The results of the by-elections for four Assembly seats in Punjab have also been announced. The ruling Aam Aadmi Party won three of the four seats and the Congress won one seat. This also includes seats won by Aam Aadmi’s party for the first time.

The results of the by-elections for two seats in Madhya Pradesh have also been announced. The BJP’s Ramakant Bhargava won the Budni seat in Madhya Pradesh and the Congress’s Mukesh Malhotra won the Vijaypur seat. Similarly, Sunil Kumar Soni of the BJP won in Raipur South constituency in Chhattisgarh.

Asha Nautiyal of the BJP won the by-election to the Kedarnath seat in Uttarakhand. Congress MP Manoj Rawat came second.

Bangladesh TMC flag

Mamata Banerjee-led TMC won six out of six seats in West Bengal. Among the six seats, Sangeeta Roy won Sitai seat, Sujoy Hazra won Medinipur West seat, TMC’s Sanat Dey won Naihati seat, SK Rabiul Islam won Haroa seat, Falguni Singh Babu Babu won Taldangra seat and Jaiprakash Toppo won Madarihat seat.

Meanwhile, in the by-elections held in five assembly seats in Assam, the Bharatiya Janata Party won three seats, the Assam Ghana Party won one seat and the United People’s Party won one seat.

Who won Karnataka?

In the by-elections to three seats in Karnataka, CP Yogeshwar won in Channapatna, Congress Pathan Yasir Ahmed Khan won in Shiggaon and Congress E Annapurna won in Sandur.

The BJP’s Thakor Swaroop Ji Sardar Ji won the Vav seat in Gujarat, the NPP’s Mehtab Chandy A Sangma won the Gambegare seat in Meghalaya, the CPIM’s UR Pradeep won the Chelakkara seat in Kerala, the Congress Rahul Mamkoothil won the Palakkad Assembly seat. Sikkim Krantikari Morcha won two seats in Sikkim.
