The by-election will be held in Mirapur seat in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar district. As a result, the electoral battle has begun, with candidates from various parties submitting nominations. There are 34 nominations for this election.
While the LSP has fielded Zahid Hussain as its candidate from the Meerapur seat in Muzaffarnagar, the Bahujan Samaj Party has given the election to Shahnazar and the Samajwadi Party has given the election to Sumbur Rana, while Lok Dal’s Mithilesh Pal will contest from the NDA.
If we talk about the Liberal Socialist Party, then it has made Zahid Hussain from the Jorja community the candidate of the Muslim community so that he can attract the votes of the Jorja community and the Dalit community. On the other hand, the Samajwadi Party also fielded Shahnazar as its candidate from the Muslim community to win Dalit and Muslim votes.
The Samajwadi Party has also offered votes to Sumbul Rana from the Muslim community, while the Lok Dal has Mithlesh Pal from the NDA as its candidate.
Political experts said that except for the Lodar candidate, all have fielded Muslim candidates. So, it now seems clear that the Muslim community will directly benefit from any split in its votes.
