Washington, United States:
US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order to lift the water pressure restrictions on showerheads, the White House said “would make the US shower again great”.
Trump has long complained about insufficient water pressure in American bathrooms that blames on the federal water conservation rules.
“In my case I like to take a good bath, to take care of my beautiful hair,” Trump told reporters that he signed the order at the Oval Office on Wednesday.
“I have to stand under the shower for 15 minutes until it gets wet. It comes out drip, drip, drip. It’s ridiculous.”
The order directs the Department of Energy to return the “radical green” rules, which limits the flow of showerheads for 2.5 gallons of water per minute.
The White House stated that the order “frees Americans from excessive rules that converts a basic domestic item into a bureaucratic nightmare” and eliminates “Obama-Biden War on Shower”.
Trump has targeted water-press standards for showerheads, toilets, dishes and other home appliances since its first term.
Outside the White House in 2020, he said, “My hair, I don’t know about you, but it is right, perfect.”
In Detroit in June 2024, Trump said, “I take a shower, I want the beautiful head of hair to be soaked.”
But according to the equipment standards awareness project, “Shower head standards save consumers on their water and energy bills and help the environment”.
“Testing has repeatedly shown that today’s models can provide an excellent shower,” the NGO said in a 2024 report.
