A bulldozing operation is underway against illegal constructions in UP’s Baraich district. Even before the operation began, people had evacuated their shops and houses. In this operation, about 23 illegal buildings and shops located in Sarai Jagana (Wazirganj Market) in the district will be demolished. The structures were constructed illegally on government land. The local government issued notices and public announcements to the encroachers, but they did not give up their occupation. Demolition work is currently underway as per the High Court order.

Let us tell you that the High Court on May 23, 2023 ordered the removal of the infringement. But even after the notice was issued, people did not remove this encroachment. Thereafter, the petitioner filed a contempt petition against the revenue officials. In this context, the government today began a bulldozing operation against the encroachment. For this purpose, heavy police presence has been deployed in the area since morning.

On the other hand, residents of the area say we have been living here for 50 years. Why hasn’t anyone spoken yet? All of this is done to target specific communities. Even houses under government schemes are being built here. Poor people were harassed.

It is understood that bulldozers will be used on approximately 23 buildings here. The government says all the structures are illegal and built on government land. Among the 23 buildings, there are 8 to 9 shops, as well as 4 small houses and 4 large houses. Some tin sheds were also encroached upon and built.

Currently, in view of the possible security situation, the district government has convened a PAC platoon. At the same time, the forces of many police stations were also called in. Women police officers are also included.

Meanwhile, local SP MLA Anand Yadav asked the district magistrate and other officials to provide relief to the affected residents. However, there will certainly be bulldozing action against illegal structures today. The government is fully prepared for this.

It is understood that about 95% of the population in the area where the bulldozers operate belongs to a certain community. According to the government, they carried out illegal construction in barns and government land. The space will be vacated following a High Court order.
