The Central Government has given many gifts to Bihar including four expressways (26 thousand crores), power project (21400 crores), Vishnupad Temple Corridor, airport, medical college. But the most special thing in this budget is that the Modi government has also focused on the biggest problem of Bihar. To save Bihar from floods, Modi government has made a big announcement in this budget.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday announced comprehensive financial assistance of Rs 11,500 crore to enhance flood control measures and irrigation projects in the states. These projects include Kosi-Mechi inter-state link and 20 other ongoing schemes, survey and investigation of flood prevention and irrigation related to Kosi river have been announced.

In the budget speech, Sitharaman said, ‘Bihar often suffers from floods, water coming from neighboring countries also plays a role in this. For this reason, the plan to construct flood control structures in Nepal has not yet progressed but now preventive measures will be taken to control floods in the Kosi River.

Kosi river is called the sorrow of Bihar

Let us tell you that Kosi river is called the sorrow of Bihar, which floods every year due to the water released by Nepal and the north-eastern region of Bihar gets badly affected by it. The entire area gets submerged and lakhs of people have to be displaced from there. The people of that area have been suffering the brunt of floods for decades and have been demanding the construction of a new dam on the Kosi river, to which the Modi government has paid wide attention this time. Gandak river also creates havoc in some parts of Bihar during monsoon season.

Apart from this, Assam suffers from floods due to Brahmaputra and its tributaries originating from outside India, there will also be assistance for flood management and related projects. Sitharaman said, ‘We will provide assistance to Assam for flood management and related projects. Similarly, help will be given to many other states where floods cause huge losses every year.
