There has been a recent increase in terrorist activities in the Jammu region of Jammu and Kashmir. The Border Security Force (BSF) has deployed two new battalions to control them. This will help stop infiltration across Pakistan’s borders and neutralize terrorists.
The Border Security Force (BSF) has deployed two new battalions with over 2,000 troops in the Jammu region to prevent terror activities. BSF officials said soldiers from these battalions have been deployed as the second line of defense on the international border with Pakistan.
The incidence of PAK infiltration increases in winter.
Earlier on Friday, India’s home ministry had deployed a special unit of the country’s main counter-terrorism force, the NSG, in Jammu. Meanwhile, regarding the deployment of two new battalions, the BSF officer said that they have been deployed in the second line of defense behind the BSF deployment point on the Pakistan border.
The two battalions were recently withdrawn from the anti-Naxal operational areas in Odisha. Currently, they are all deployed in Jammu region. Sources said the work will be completed before the onset of winter when securing international borders against Pakistani infiltration will become challenging.
Jammu’s 485 km international border
The BSF has deployed soldiers from these new battalions to some other sensitive areas such as Samba and Jammu. Additionally, some soldiers were deployed at the Punjab border with Jammu. Several deployment points equipped with CCTV cameras have been set up, the official said.

The BSF guards over 2,289 kilometers of international borders. It passes through the western Indian states of Jammu, Punjab, Rajasthan and Gujarat. Jammu’s borders are 485 km long. The area is surrounded by dense forests and hills. Around a dozen BSF battalions are deployed in the international border area of ​​Jammu.
